It is famous for one thing: vitamin C.
So how much? And is powder or capsules the smarter pick?
This guide gives you straight answers. What camu camu is. What the label actually says. How to take it. How to spot a clean one.

Camu camu (say KAH-moo KAH-moo) grows on shrubs along rivers in the Amazon rainforest.
The berry is small, round and deep red. It is very tart. Nobody eats a handful for fun.
That tartness is why it usually shows up dried.
Ours is organically harvested in Peru. The berries are cleaned, dried at low temperatures and ground into a fine powder.
It takes about 60 pounds of fresh fruit to make 1 pound of powder.

Let’s keep this honest. We are not going to promise you results. Here is what we can back up.
Vitamin C is an essential nutrient. Your body cannot make it, so it has to come from food or supplements (NIH Office of Dietary Supplements).
One published analysis of Amazon-region camu camu pulp reported 2.4 to 3.0 grams of vitamin C per 100 grams of fresh pulp (Justi et al., 2000).
For scale: the NIH lists one medium orange at 70 mg of vitamin C.
Fine print, because it matters. That figure is fresh pulp, not a powder. Values vary with where and how the fruit grows. The same study found lower levels in fruit grown in Paraná, Brazil.
The Daily Value for vitamin C is 90 mg for adults. It is the yardstick on every label.
Whole-fruit powder means the vitamin C arrives inside the berry, not as a lone isolated compound. A published review describes camu camu fruit as a source of phenolic compounds and beta-carotene too (review of camu camu’s nutritional composition).
Powder: one ingredient. Capsules: two. Organic camu camu, plus a vegan pullulan capsule. That is the whole list.
Capsules for a no-mess routine. Powder for smoothies, juice and yogurt. Same berry either way.
Notice what is missing? No promises about curing anything. That is on purpose.
Most vitamin C supplements use ascorbic acid. One isolated compound, usually made in a lab.
Camu camu is different in one clear way: it is the whole fruit, ground. Our label says it plainly: not synthetic, no ascorbic acid.
One thing we will not say: that it absorbs better.
The NIH notes that ascorbic acid in supplements is absorbed about as well as the ascorbic acid in foods like orange juice and broccoli. So we do not make that claim.
Our pitch is simpler. If you want your vitamin C from a fruit, with a short ingredient list you can read in five seconds, this is that.
Same fruit. Different routine. Pick the one you will actually keep taking.

Or follow the directions on the label. They win.
Tip: skip the heat.
Vitamin C is water soluble and sensitive to heat, and cooking can reduce it in foods (NIH). So stir camu camu into cool or room-temperature foods instead of baking it in.

Blend. Pour. Done.
More ideas: stir 1 tsp into yogurt or overnight oats, or shake it into juice.
Simple rule. Follow the label.
More is not the goal. The NIH sets a tolerable upper intake level of 2,000 mg of vitamin C a day for adults, from food and supplements combined. Higher amounts can cause stomach upset such as diarrhea or cramps.

That is what dried camu camu fruit looks like.

Bright pink? Read the label twice.
Pink powders are often a sign of added maltodextrin, a filler ingredient. Ours has no maltodextrin, no fillers and no added color.

Camu camu (Myrciaria dubia) is a small, tart, deep-red berry from the Peruvian Amazon, known as one of the richest plant sources of vitamin C. Our capsules and powder use the whole fruit, dried at low temperatures and ground into a fine powder. It takes about 60 pounds of fresh camu camu fruit to make 1 pound of powder.
Many vitamin C supplements use ascorbic acid, a single isolated compound. Camu camu delivers vitamin C inside a whole-fruit powder, together with the naturally occurring plant compounds that come with the berry. Each serving of Mother Nature Organics Camu Camu Capsules provides 200 mg of vitamin C from organic camu camu, and each 1 tsp serving of the powder provides 760% of the Daily Value, with no synthetic ascorbic acid added.
Capsules: a serving is 2 capsules, which provides 200 mg of vitamin C (222% of the Daily Value) from 1,000 mg of organic raw camu camu powder. Each bottle holds 120 capsules, or 60 servings. Powder: a serving is 1 tsp, which provides 760% of the Daily Value of vitamin C. Each 8 oz pouch holds 45 servings.
Capsules: take 2 capsules daily with a glass of water, preferably in the morning with food, or as directed on the label. Powder: stir 1 tsp into a smoothie, juice or yogurt, or take as directed on the label. No refrigeration is needed. Store in a cool, dark, dry place. If you are pregnant, nursing, taking medication or have a medical condition, talk with your healthcare provider before use.
Capsules have two ingredients: certified organic camu camu powder (Myrciaria dubia) and a vegan pullulan capsule. The powder has one ingredient: certified organic camu camu powder. No fillers, binders, sugar, magnesium stearate or artificial preservatives.
Yes. Organic camu camu is the only active ingredient, and the packaging carries the USDA Organic seal. The formula is also vegan, non-GMO and gluten-free, and the capsule is made from plant-based pullulan.
Our camu camu is organically harvested in Peru. The berries are cleaned, dried at low temperatures and ground into a fine powder, then filled into capsules or packed as powder. Every batch is third-party lab tested, including testing for heavy metals, to confirm quality and purity.
Camu camu fruit powder is naturally tan to beige. Ours is the whole organic fruit, dried at low temperatures and ground: no maltodextrin, no fillers, no added color. Pink powders are often a sign of added maltodextrin (a filler ingredient), which ours doesn't contain.
At 2 capsules a day, a 120-count bottle lasts about 60 days. At 1 tsp a day, an 8 oz pouch lasts about 45 days. Choose capsules for a simple, no-mess daily routine that travels well. Choose powder if you like to add camu camu to smoothies, juice and recipes.
