Moringa (Moringa oleifera) is a fast-growing tree whose leaves are eaten as a food and whose seeds are pressed for oil. Choose USDA Organic leaf capsules or cold-pressed oil below, then read on for where it grows and how to use each form.
Moringa (Moringa oleifera) is a tree whose leaves, pods, seeds and flowers are all edible. The dried leaves are ground into a green powder, and the seeds are pressed for a light oil. We offer moringa two ways: leaf capsules and seed oil.
Where ours comes from. Our farmers page introduces Krisha, who grows moringa with her family in Tamil Nadu, India, where we collect both the leaves and the seeds; the peak harvest runs from March to August. Our moringa oil is pressed from moringa seeds harvested organically in southeast India and bottled in an FDA-registered, GMP-registered facility in the USA.
Leaf capsules. Our Organic Moringa Capsules hold pure USDA Organic moringa leaf powder in a vegan pullulan capsule: 1,000 mg per serving of 2 capsules, 120 capsules (60 servings) per bottle, about a 2-month supply. There are no fillers or stearates, and the capsules are vegan, non-GMO and gluten-free. The label says to take 2 capsules daily with water, preferably with a meal.
Moringa oil. Our Organic Moringa Oil is USDA Organic, cold-pressed, unrefined, extra virgin and undiluted, with no hexane. It comes in 2 oz and 4 fl oz (120 ml) glass bottles with a dropper, and most people use it on skin and hair, alone or mixed with another carrier oil. Store it in a cool, dark place, and don't refrigerate it: cold can make moringa oil cloudy or solid. If that happens, warm the bottle gently in your hands and shake it.
Choosing a moringa oil. Look for oil that is cold-pressed from Moringa oleifera seeds, unrefined and undiluted, with no solvents such as hexane, in dark glass. Ours checks each of those boxes and is lab verified, non-GMO, vegan and cruelty-free. Start with a few drops at a time on skin or the ends of your hair.
Capsules or oil? They are different parts of the plant for different routines. Choose the capsules for a simple, no-mix leaf serving. Choose the oil for a topical skin and hair routine. Get both in the Moringa Complete Nutrition & Care Set.
