The short answer: Black seed oil capsules hold the same cold-pressed Nigella sativa oil as the liquid, sealed in a softgel so there is nothing to measure or taste. Choose our 1000 mg softgels (1,000 mg per 2 softgels, 120 count) or our 2000 mg softgels (2,000 mg per 2 softgels, Min 2% TQ, 60 or 180 count); choose the liquid if you want to cook with it or pay the least per gram. All three are single-origin from Turkey.

Are black seed oil capsules the same oil as the liquid?

Yes. Our softgels contain organic, cold-pressed, extra virgin black cumin seed oil (Nigella sativa), the same single-origin Turkish oil we bottle as a liquid. The only additions are the softgel shell: gelatin, glycerin and purified water. That shell is also why the liquid is vegan and the softgels are not.

1000 mg vs 2000 mg softgels: what is the difference?

Softgels 1000 mg Softgels 2000 mg Liquid oil

Bottle sizes 120 ct (60 servings) 60 ct (~30) or 180 ct (~90) 4, 8 or 16 oz (8 oz ≈ 48 servings)
TQ on label Standardized at 2% Min 2% Thymoquinone Min 2% Thymoquinone
List price, Oct 2026 $24.95 $22.95 / $34.95 $19.95 / $32.95 / $47.95
Cost per label serving ≈ $0.42 ≈ $0.77 / $0.39 ≈ $0.83 / $0.69 / $0.50
Taste None None Peppery, herbal

Per gram of oil, the 16 oz liquid and the 180-count 2000 mg bottle are the best value. The 1000 mg bottle suits people who want a smaller softgel.

When are softgels the better choice?

  • You travel or keep a bottle at work
  • You dislike the strong peppery taste of the liquid
  • You want the same amount every day without a measuring spoon
  • You do not plan to cook with the oil

When is the liquid the better choice?

  • You want to drizzle it over salads, hummus or bread; the liquid is food grade
  • You prefer a vegan product
  • You want the lowest cost per gram

Why does single-origin Turkey matter for capsules?

Most capsule brands do not say where their seeds come from. Ours come from one growing region in Turkey, never blended from many farms' harvests, so batches stay consistent and traceable. Turkish Nigella sativa is known for naturally higher thymoquinone content, and in Turkey the seeds are a familiar kitchen spice called çörek otu, scattered over breads and pastries.

What mistakes do people make when buying black seed oil capsules?

  • Comparing bottles by count instead of by milligrams of oil per serving
  • Missing that a "1000 mg" label may mean per 2 softgels, not per softgel
  • Buying capsules with no origin or TQ figure listed
  • Leaving the bottle in a hot car; store it in a cool, dark, dry place

How do you take black seed oil softgels?

Take 2 softgels daily, or as directed on the label. The 2000 mg label suggests taking them with a meal. Refrigeration is not required.

Frequently asked questions

Are black seed oil capsules vegan?

No. The softgel shell is made with gelatin. Our liquid black seed oil is vegan.

Is 2000 mg better than 1000 mg?

Neither is better; 2000 mg simply puts twice as much oil into each 2-softgel serving, so you finish a bottle faster per softgel.

Where does your black seed oil come from?

All our black seed oil, liquid and softgels, is single-origin from Turkey.

Do the capsules need to be refrigerated?

No. Store them tightly closed in a cool, dark, dry place.
